Mule News: You Can Now Get Cannabis Infused Vodka

There's More Than One Way To Get High, Baby!

Okay, so this new cannabis infused vodka from Humboldt might not be quite what you expected, but you’ll have to admit it makes for a great conversation starter at your next party.

The vodka itself ends up containing no THC or CBD’s, the active ingredients in weed that make you feel so gosh-darn good. Most people can figure that there’s good reason for this, since things like alcohol infused with caffeine and the like seldom make it to market. You can drink some vodka and smoke a joint, but a spirit that gets you drunk and high is a whole new animal for regulation.

Sticking to California law, Humboldt Distillery uses legally-grown hemp, which must have a “THC content of less than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis,” according to a press release from the company. Although this isn’t enough THC to get you high, the underlying 40% ABV will do the trick as well as any spirit out there.

So if it’s not going to get you stoned, why infuse the vodka at all? Well Humboldt Distillery owner and head distiller, Abe Stevens explains that “It does, however, retain an herbal and aromatic quality reminiscent of fresh cannabis, and we’ve found it works very well in place of gin, giving classic cocktails a fresh new spin.”
