COPPER CARE

While stunning in any state, in its shining, polished form, copper can double as decor in many spaces, or add incredible texture to a basic table setting. If you’re looking to brighten up your copper mugs and barware, you’ll be pleased to learn that crossing this chore off your list doesn’t require a bunch of tools, a trip to the store for supplies, or even very much elbow grease. It can be tackled with as little as two ingredients, both of which you probably already have in the pantry.

We’d like to share with you a couple of proven, time-tested methods for shining up your most prized possessions.

COPPER CARE

1. The Pantry Method:

Lemon and salt rank as an all-star combo for cleaning things like cutting boards, butcher block countertops and now your copper products. You likely have these two basic ingredients in the kitchen already, so why not put them to good use?

Basic cleaning:

Cut a lemon in half and cover the sliced flesh with basic table salt. Rub your copper with the open-faced lemon. Use the lemon directly on the surface rather than using an applicator such as a rag or sponge. Continue to rub the surface and apply salt as needed, until tarnish is removed.

Tougher tasks:

In a bowl, mix the juice of one lemon juice with 1-2 tablespoons of salt to form a paste. Apply the paste to the cut half of a lemon with a spoon and rub directly onto your copper item. Allowing longer exposure by using a paste will help clean stained or hard-to-reach areas. When done cleaning, rinse the copper item clean with warm water, and dry thoroughly. Buff with a dry, clean microfiber cloth for additional shine.

2. Grandma Sophie’s Crazy Copper Cleaner

Grandma Sophie’s Copper Cleaner works in removing tarnish and restoring your copper to looking brand new. From the beginning we found the scent of the cleaner to be far more pleasant that other cleaners we tried. We also noticed a huge difference as to how quick this stuff works, not only was it able to restore the mugs back to looking brand new and shiny again, it also took half the time to clean! It also didn’t leave any residual watermarks, scratches or toxic smells lingering behind. We tested this on other metals and seemed to do a great job as well. Grandma Sohpie’s Copper Cleaner is definitely our winner for our title BEST COPPER CLEANER on the market. We highly recommended you try it out for yourself.
