Why is it called a Moscow Mule?

Sophie Berezinksi immigrated to the United States from Russia with 2,000 solid copper mugs. Her father owned and operated a copper company called Moscow Copper Co. In 1941, Sophie met John Martin who had just purchased Smirnoff Vodka distillery at Cock ‘n’ Bull pub. The owner of the Cock ‘n’ Bull pub was interested in selling his brand of ginger beer. After crossing paths, the trio worked tirelessly to develop a drink that would bring together the spice of ginger beer, the punch of vodka, and the refreshing feel of copper mugs. After many failed attempts, the trio stumbled upon a recipe that was the perfect combination. Thus, the Moscow Mule was born.
