The Moscow Mule. A delicious drink with a storied history and custom-made copper drinkware to match.
Here are the Mule Blog, it’s no secret that we love our spirits, but sometimes you want to experience the pleasure of a great cocktail without the hazy effects of booze and all those calories. Luckily, the Moscow Mule is one of the great drinks to craft virgin versions of: it’s got a deep flavor profile and an undeniable ability to refresh that’s almost complete unrelated to it’s component spirit.
The thing is, you don’t want to just take a traditional mule recipe and forego the alcohol. Where’s the fun in that?
Luckily the Mule Copper Co. has a new, handcrafted ginger-lime syrup that was practically made for a scenario like this: not only will it pep-up your booze-less Mule, but also help you cut the calories that’s you’d otherwise get using straight ginger beer. The result is a mock-tail so robust in flavor and so free of alcoholic and caloric consequences that it’s basically a license to drink as many as you want – plus it is easy to make and fun to drink!
Virgin Moscow Mule Ingredients:
- Moscow Copper Co. Ginger Lime Syrup
- 1 Lime
- Fresh Mint
- Club Soda or Sparkling Water
- Copper Mugs
Directions:
- In a cocktail shaker filled with cubed ice, combine and shake
- 1oz ginger-lime syrup
- 8oz Club Soda or Sparkling Water*
- In a Moscow Copper Co. mug filled with crushed ice and rimmed with a lime wedge, carefully strain the mixture.
- Garnish with a wedge of lime, and a sprig of mint.
It should be noted that although this might be our favorite way to craft this cocktail, it might not be yours. Don’t be afraid to play around with the ratio of syrup to sparking water (or even various brands of sparkling water), this recipe is flexible enough that you can experiment at will. And since it’s non-alcoholic, you can taste test to your heart’s content without worry about losing the recipe to a vodka-induced haze. Don’t have Ginger Lime Syrup – Don’t worry! You can always make a virgin Moscow Mule with your own Lime Juice, Ginger Beer Mix and copper mug.
*Note: Though club soda and sparkling waters won’t explode with fizziness when shaken, they will create some pressure within the cocktail shaker, so wait a second before breaking the seal to allow the bubbles to subside.
